______

In Greek mythology, Zeus condemned Atlas to carry the sky on his shoulders. Atlas is a theatre performance that brings together a hundred people on the stage, all from different professions. In this piece, Ana Borralho and João Galante attempt to put together the atlas of human social organization. They try to represent human beings through their function in the society they live in. One of the forces driving this work is the inspiration born of the pieces of the plastic artist Joseph Beuys: The revolution is us and Every man an artist. This is a silent revolution. A piece motivated by the belief that art has the obligation to play an active role in society. Joining art to life.

La Marina is a historically manufacturing neighbourhood, marked by the old factories found in the area and the strong spirit of workers’ struggle that aroused among its employees, its local residents: Seat, Philips … The neighbourhood community based artistic creation program ART i PART (ICUB) uses community work that has already been carried out in the area with its inhabitants, derived from the changes that have taken place following the disappearance of the factories, with its implications for identity, increasing unemployment, etc. Artistic creations come to add a new element. Among the collaborators we bring together entities that were already involved in the research on the memory of the workers of the neighbourhood, but who had not addressed it from the artistic point of view.

Leading entity: El Graner, from the cultural axis Historical Memory of Pla de Barris (PdB), and from the entities participating in the cultural project of GRANER (PdB).
